Adventures Awaits: All About Classical Greece!

When was the last time you traveled abroad? Perhaps, it was for your best friend’s destination wedding. Perhaps, it was right before the pandemic hit
 
The Covid-19 pandemic has made it important for individuals to decompress, rest and escape for your mental and physical well-being.  What a better way to relax than to book an international vacation on a Classical Greece sightseeing trip!
 
For some travelers, this will be their first time traveling abroad since the Covid-19 pandemic, which might bring a lot of stress and worry seasoned vacationers are familiar with: Who’s planning this trip? What am I going to do over there? When should I visit? Where will I stay? How will I even get to point B from point A?
 
Fear not, our travel experts will make your international trip all the more worthwhile. To ease the tension up a bit, let’s go over the basic facts.

For those who love structure and planning, here is a tentative schedule prepared for your convenience. On the other hand, for those who have spontaneity in their veins, here is a curated list on what to experience in Greece:
 
Must Visit

• Delphi, an ancient city known for its significant religious centers in Classical Greece.  Legend has it that many individuals have traveled long distances to have Oracles, predict the future of humanity. The Delphi Museum features their priceless collections of ancient artifacts spanning from the Mycenaean era to the Greco-Roman times.
• Olympia, is the birthplace of the first Olympic Games in 776 B.C.  Enjoy a guided tour through the museum, Zeus sanctuary, and the Olympic Stadium, Followed by a fun Greek dancing lesson during the evening to familiarize yourself with traditional Greek musical instruments and folkloric dances.
• Vrahakia, translates to “small rocks,” and is at the top of what locals call the Areopagus Hill. Enjoy remarkable panoramic views of Athens and surrounding mountains once you reach the top. (Hint: To avoid a crowd, plan an early hike as young people often go there to hangout.)
• Monastiraki is a strip of small business markets, many of which sell traditional Greek sandals at a fair price.
• Plaka, known as the “Neighborhood of the Gods”, due to its proximity to the Acropolis and many other archaeological sites. Built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens, this area resembles the streets of islands and immediately takes the visitor back in time because of its architecture. Go for Greek traditional food and great views.

 
What to Try
Can you even say you visited Greece if you didn’t eat a gyro (yee-row)? They can be found on the menus of restaurants or tavernas or served at your local speciality shop. Gyros typically contain chicken or pork cooked rotisserie-style, and are often served with veggies, potatoes, tzatziki (tuh-zee-kee) sauce, and lemon all in a pita wrap. Some places serve it with fries too!
 
Second thing you must try is a frappé, which if you did not know (myself included, thank you Antigoni) was accidentally invented by a representative of Nescafé in Greece. Embrace Greece’s all-hours coffee culture and enjoy a cup whenever you can!
 
Nightlife
For stunning views and drinks, go to City Zen Rooftop Bar or Athens 360 Rooftop Bar, both of which are located in the center of Athens. Enjoy a drink or two of ouzo, all while looking at the Acropolis at night, considered to be one of the best views. This is the perfect time to highlight your trip to Greece on Instagram.
 
Now this may sound a bit bizarre, but plan for one of your beach days to not have an early end. After a nice day of sunbathing and strolling around the sand, let loose and unwind at beachfront clubs such as Akanthus or Bolivar.
