Here are highlights for the Barcelona sightseeing trip: Visit the Sagrada Familia A one-of-a-kind temple, for its origins, foundation, and purpose and is the most iconic works by Antoni Gaudi. It is dedicated to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and it represents the road to God: Death, Final Judgment, and Glory. The design of the Sagrada Familia also has a total of eighteen spires, or towers, that represent the Twelve Apostles, the Virgin Mary, the four Evangelists, and, the tallest of them all, Jesus Christ. It is one of the longest projects of all time and is due to be completed in 2026 after almost 150 years. When completed, it will be the tallest building in Europe. Park Guell Also designed by Gaudi, the park is one of the largest green spaces in Barcelona. The architecture of these buildings is unique with stunning and distinct architectural elements. As Gaudi has been inspired by nature, he has decorated the park with exquisite structures that imitate natural forms. It is filled with colorful architecture that is influenced by symbolism. It is magical and sure to bring visitors in awe. Montserrat Day Trip It is one of the most popular day trips in Barcelona. You take a cable car up the mountain. At the top, you are able to see the Spanish countryside. The views from the monastery are breathtaking, well worth a day of your time while you are visiting. On our day trip to Montserrat, our guests will also visit Cava, Spain’s wine country, and meet local wine markers and savor fine Spanish wines. Cuisine Paellas is Spain’s most iconic dish and guests cannot leave Spain without trying this authentic meal. Originating from Valencia (Spain), it is a rice dish that can come with saffron, vegetables, chicken, and seafood cooked and served in a round shallow pan. Spain is also known for its Tapas -- small plates, typically small savory dishes, snacks, or appetizers of Spanish cuisine. It may be served hot or cold. Some kinds of Tapas are patatas bravas (potato cubes with a sauce that can be spicy or mild), carrillada (a cut of meat, pork, or beef with a guaranteed juicy taste), and croquetas (a fried dumpling that has a filling of either cooked ham, roast pork, beef, chicken, fish or vegetables). Shop at Las Ramblas or Passeig de Gracia Shopping in Barcelona is major tourist activity. Both Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia connect to each other with hundreds of designer stores such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Zara, or Bershka. It is also famous for its street performers.
